How to Make Fancy Web Page Buttons in PSP
- 1). Make a bold and colorful glossy web button instead of something simple. Create a new document in Photoshop, grab the selection tool and drag out a rectangle on your canvas. Grab the paint bucket tool, and fill the selection with a bold color. Double-click on this layer in the Layers Palette to open the Modify window.
Select "Stroke" and apply a one-pixel border to the button. Enhance the button with a reflective effect by dragging out another rectangle across the top half of the button. Feather the selection by through the right-click menu.
Select the gradient tool and pick "Linear" as your gradient style. Make the gradient type "foreground to transparent" and select white as your foreground color. Apply the gradient, and you have a glossy button to customize with any text you desire. - 2). Incorporate elements of your existing layout into the your web buttons to make the overall design fluid and complete. If your website includes fancy flourishes, download free flourish clip art in font form, and use the fonts as bases for button designs. Take the downloaded fonts and place them in your computers font folder.
Open PSP, create a new document, grab the text tool, select the flourish font and type the number that represents the flourish you want to use. Rasterize this type layer to transform the text flourish into a solid base for your button. - 3). Enhance your web button with interactivity and animation. You cannot animate your buttons in PSP, but you can create individual "frames" that can be animated later. Create a new file, and place each "frame" on a different layer.
Once you're created all your frames, save the file in its native .PSD format. You are now ready to take that file into a program like Adobe ImageReady and animate your web button.
