How to Obtain a Copy of an Accident Report That You Were Involved In
- 1). Contact the responding officer, using the number on his business card, and ask him for a copy of the accident report.
- 2). Phone the police station if your officer doesn't answer, leaving a message with details of your accident. Include the time, date and location of the accident as well as your name and a contact phone number.
- 3). Contact your local courthouse if your officer or the police station can't give it to you. You may be required to visit the courthouse and pay a fee to pick up a copy of the report.
- 4). Phone your insurance company and the insurance provider for the other party involved in the accident. They will also have the police report and may be able to mail you a copy.
