Sometimes hemorrhoids can become much more complex than what is normally seen.
One such complication is the thrombosed hemorrhoids.
When accumulation of blood and a clot formation happens inside a hemorrhoid then this condition is called thrombosed hemorrhoids.
Some of the treatment options that are normally used may only provide temporary relief.
Since anything to do with blood can easily lead to other complications it is best to go for immediate medical attention.
There are several surgical treatments for thrombosed hemorrhoids that have been in use.
In one such treatment the hemorrhoid is opened and the blood clot along with other fluids is squeezed out and then the opening is stitched back.
This type of surgery is less painful and recovery time is also less.
However this type of treatment may not guarantee the recurrence of blood clot in the same spot again.
The success rate of this type of surgery has been moderate only.
The second surgical treatment for thrombosed hemorrhoids that is popular is the normal surgical procedure called hemorrhoidectomy.
In this technique the swollen part is completely removed along with the clot and other fluids.
This procedure is more painful and will require medication for a longer period of time to heal the wound.
You may also have to be careful while passing stools.
Normally patients who undergo this surgery are put on stool softeners.
The good thing about this treatment is that recurrence of problem again in the same spot is very minimal.
After the surgery you will have to take special care by eating foods that have high fiber content so that you have soft stools.
Also drink plenty of water to avoid constipation.
You can always take a warm water sitz bath to provide soothing effect to the anus / rectum area.
Treating thrombosed hemorrhoids is not difficult if you take correct steps at the correct time.
