- 1). First off, you should check with your local blood collecting places for more information. Contact the American Blood Banks or the American Red Cross and ask if they pay for you to donate your blood to them. Some places pay, while other places don't. Do your homework and find areas where they will pay money for your blood.
- 2). When you answer or fill out their questionaires, make sure that you give completely honest answers. If you had a recent surgery, you should let them know because you might not be eligible to donate blood.
- 3). Make sure that you are not taking any medications that might cause problems while donating blood. Ask your doctor and get his/her permission before proceeding. Make sure that your iron level is at a healthy amount.
- 4). Before you go to donate your blood, make sure that you leave on an empty stomach. You should drink plenty of water the day before so that it will be easier to draw blood.
