Skin Antisepsis in the Neonate: What Should We Use?
Prevention of nosocomial infection in the ICU is vital. Adequate topical antisepsis plays a crucial role in reducing intravascular catheter colonization with pathogenic organisms. There is a paucity of evidence to guide an informed choice about the most suitable antiseptic to use prior to invasive procedures in the NICU. Well designed RCTs are needed to compare the efficacy and safety of various antiseptic formulations, concentrations, and combinations in preterm neonates.
