- 1). Make sure you have a USB cable available. You will need to have a USB cable available, as well as a free USB port on your computer, to connect your karaoke machine to your laptop.
- 2). Pull out your karaoke machine and make sure it includes a USB interface. If your karaoke machine has a small square connection on the back it does have a USB interface. Make sure you have a USB cable available - if you do not have an extra USB cable you will need to purchase one separately.
- 3). Insert the square end of the USB cable into the back of the karaoke machine, and insert the flat end of the cable into a free USB port on your computer. Plug the karaoke machine into an electrical outlet, surge protector or UPS and power it on. Make sure you connect the USB cable to your laptop before you power on the unit.
- 4). Insert the installation CD that came with the karaoke machine into your computer, and allow your computer to install the software. Open the karaoke machine software and allow it to find your music files. The karaoke machine software should automatically search for MP3 files, and you can then use those music files to create your own karaoke masterpieces.
