Be In The Now And Take Action

103 4
Having coached dozens of novice writers, as well as being an author myself, I've learnt over the years that to realise your dream of becoming a published author requires a fusion of skills and steps, of which the most important, in my opinion, is 'Action.
' No amount of passion, talent, skill, education, experience, etc.
will do you any good unless you take action.
Another thing I've learnt is that you've got to be quick on the uptake and move with haste.
Success loves speed.
We now live in a fast-moving world and it's essential to speedily take action.
You have to move and act quickly to get the results you want.
Now I know there're one hundred and one other distractions that's fighting to drain your energy, and possibly winning: house to clean and the bookkeeping to do among other things.
Here's what you do, hire a cleaner to come in once a month.
You will easily save ten to twenty hours.
Hire out the bookkeeping to an accountant.
It will take him an hour, where it would take you four.
The point here is, hire out your weaknesses - those tasks that suck your energy and creativity.
And seek out the best and invest in their support that will propel you to where you want to go.
For instance, start working with a coach.
You'll have someone to be accountable to and someone who you can bounce ideas off of.
It will help you stay focused.
When it comes to the business of writing, it's much like going up a winding staircase.
You have no idea where it's taking you, per se, even outlines change, but logic tells you you're getting somewhere and if you're not focused and you procrastinate, or overanalyze, that's a recipe for lost time and in some cases, failure.
It's super important to be in the now to make progress.
Many of us strive for perfection at the outset, forgetting that we can fine tune the finished product, but without action, there is no product.
When you sit down to write, be it a book, a short story, or a guide, you can draw on your skills, education and experience and leverage them while you take action.
Put the necessary thought into it and work on making it happen.
Focus, don't over think it and don't even worry about mistakes; it's about finishing.
Once that's done, you edit and add all the bells and whistles.
Most importantly, don't give up.
Sometimes you'll feel as if you're taking one step forward and ten steps back.
There will be challenges, sure, but focus and persistence is so important.
And remember, no effort is wasted.
Your actions will bring results, so keep doing it.
Then do it some more and when you look back you will see how far you've come.
Your actions will pay off.
Don't Get It Right, Get It Written.
