How to Get Adobe to Open When Putting an SD Card in the Printer to Transfer Pictures
- 1). Install one of the Adobe Photoshop programs to your computer. Photoshop is the digital imaging editing program from Adobe, and is popular among professional and amateur users. Although the Photoshop applications are a little expensive by most standards, a free trial of CS5 and CS5 Extended are available from the Adobe site (see "Resources" section).
- 2). Click the Windows "Start" button and select the "Default Programs" options. Click the "Associate a file type" button to launch a list of file types and extensions. Locate the image file type that you use to save pictures to your SD card, for example "JPG." Highlight the file type and click "Change" program.
- 3). Use the "Open with" window to set the Adobe program as the default program. Windows will automatically populate the "Recommended Programs" list with programs associated with the file extension you selected in step 2. Select the Adobe program from this list. If the Adobe program does not appear on this list, click the "Browse" button at the bottom of the "Open with" window to select it from a list of programs that are available on your computer.
- 4). Check the box next to the "Always use the selected program" listing to ensure the Adobe program is used as the default. Click the "OK" button to compete the process of automatically opening Adobe when you put an SD card into the printer to transfer pictures. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for each type of digital image file format you use with the SD card, such as "BMP" or "TIFF."
