There are many ways one can prevent bad breath in the comforts of one's home and one need not have to result in a very drastic measure.
There are some very simple and effective ways of treating halitosis and usually prevention is the best way to go when dealing with this problem.
Chronic halitosis is often manageable and can be prevented by simple having the proper oral hygiene.
Frequent brushing of your teeth and gums and flossing will remove unwanted food particles that can cause bad breath.
When you brush your teeth it is now also advisable to gently clean the surface of your tongue as well as this is one of the most effective ways of taking control of smelly breath.
There are now toothbrushes that come with a tongue scraper that will help you do this.
Another way to help you prevent oral malodor is having the right kind of diet and eating a healthy breakfast that clean the very back of the tongue.
Rough foods should be able to do the trick such as cereals and other fibrous foods.
Chewing gum is also advised; however choose the one with less or no sugar, doing so would help increase the production of saliva in your mouth that can reduce bad breath.
There are also different kinds of mouthwashes that you can use in treating halitosis that are in the market today.
Be sure that when you buy these products you use them as they are directed as some of these can dry your mouth and just add to the problem.
