How to Connect a Flat Screen TV on a Wall to a DVD Player
- 1). Shut off the circuit breaker that powers the room where the TV is.
- 2). Remove the TV from the wall bracket and disconnect the power cord. Get a friend to help, since moving a TV alone can be awkward. Place the TV in a safe location.
- 3). Drill a 1-inch diameter hole in the wall where the TV normally hangs. The hole will be obscured by the TV when it is replaced.
- 4). Drill a second hole lower on the wall where the AV cables will emerge for the DVD player. Opening an area on the wall behind a component rack or entertainment center will hide the hole.
- 5). Insert the loop on the end of the fish tape through the top hole and push the tape downward behind the wall toward the second hole. Pull the end of the fish tape out of the wall.
- 6). Attach the end of the composite cable to the loop on the fish tape and push each of the three plugs on the end of the cable one at a time into the hole in the wall. Make sure the composite cable is long enough to connect between both holes.
- 7). Pull up on the fish tape to drag the composite cable up through the wall toward the first hole. Pull the fish tape and connected cable out of the wall at the top.
- 8). Hold the flat-screen TV in position over the wall bracket with the help of a friend and connect the three plugs on the end of the composite cable to the jacks labeled composite input on the back of the TV. Reconnect the power cable and hang the flat-panel on its wall bracket.
- 9). Connect the three plugs at the bottom end of the composite cable near the floor to the AV inputs on the rear of the DVD player. The electrical cord on the DVD player can be connected to a wall outlet near the floor.
