The Left Button Is Disabled on My Acer TouchPad
- 1). Ensure that the touchpad is enabled. Go to the Start menu, click "Control Panel," "Mouse," then click the "Device Settings" tab. Click the TouchPad name listed in the "Devices" window. Check to see if the "Enable" button is grayed out; if it is, the TouchPad is enabled.
- 2). Check the touchpad settings. In the "Device Settings" tab for Mouse Properties, click the button "Settings." Look in the narrow window on the left side of the dialog window and click the "+" sign next to "Buttons." Click "Left Action Buttons." Select "Enable."
- 3). Reinstall the touchpad driver software. Go to the Start menu, click on "Control Panel," then double-click "System." Click the "Hardware" tab, then click on "Device Manager." Scroll down until you see "Mice and other pointing devices" and click the "+" sign. Click on the touchpad device name, depending on the Acer product model. Select "Action" at the top of the window and click "Uninstall." Reboot the computer; Windows will reinstall the driver software on bootup.
- 4). Update the touchpad driver. Go to the official Acer support website (see Resources). Select your Acer product model. Follow the onscreen instructions to download and install the new driver. Reboot the computer.
