Advertising plays an important role in the marketing of a business. The presentation of the advertisement is important to determine whether target audience get the business message and is motivated to buy it's products and services.

Brochures are an popular form of advertising a business. With the abundance of software tools, like Adobe Photoshop, Quark Express, Illustrator, and Microsoft Publisher that facilitates brochure designing, many business owners choose to print their own brochures. But even if you choose to design your own brochures, there are certain considerations you should beer in mind:

Do not over- do it- A brochure that has been crammed with too much of information and images has a detrimental effect to both the business and the brochure itself. It has been seen to dramatically decreasing it's effectiveness. When designing your brochure, think of a newspaper headline instead. Think of the parts that need to be highlighted and given more importance. Ask yourself which is the most important message going in a page and highlight the portion.

Use images- It is only natural that everyone seems to be attracted to an image or photo. Use a photo that conveys the message of your business. Do not use too many photos or images in the printing brochure.

Stick to a regular shape- Although many people like quirky advertising and feel tempted to use non- standard shape for their brochures, you should know that this can drastically inflate your cost. For instance, for a home insurance company, it is very natural to want to design their brochures in a shape of a house. But since the shape has to be custom- made by the company, the cost are obviously going to rise. Stick to the standard shape. Just because a brochure is rectangular doesn't mean that it is boring. You can spice it up and add interesting elements to it in other ways.

Order in bulk- Order in bulk to save on cost. The more you order, the cheaper they become. A single large order will cost considerably less than the same order in parts over time.

Organize your text- Write down the full content. Check for spelling, factual and grammatical errors, before you lay your order. Make sure the text is formatted properly for each section and that everything flows together well.

Have an appropriate design- The brochure design should compliment your business brand. If you use specific fonts, colors, images, logos to represent your company, make sure the same is presented in the brochures to facilitate business recognition.

Experiment- Experiment with different paper styles and sizes. Try different shades of white and off- white and different styles and sizes of paper until you find the right one for your business. Remember that standing apart is almost always beneficial for your business, as long as you do it right.

Hire the right printing service- Find an established and reputable brochure printing service for your job. Visit their premises and ask to see samples of their previous work. Judge wisely before making your choice.
