  • 1). Center your name at the top of the page. Make your name bold and larger than the rest of the text. Type your address, telephone number and email address on the line directly below your name.

  • 2). Make a section called "Professional Profile," and write one sentence that describes your strengths and where you are in your career. This single sentence is a summary of your resume and should be enough to give an employer insight into what you can do. For example, you could write "A professional equine trainer with 5 years of experience in showing horses and leading riding lessons." This sentence should entice the employer into reading the rest of your resume.

  • 3). Include a section called "Work Experience" or "Career Highlights." Your work experience in the horse training field should be detailed in chronological order with the most recent job first so that the employer can see how your training and skills have progressed and how you have advanced in your career. Include competitions you won, exceptional horses you've trained and any steps in your career that you think are noteworthy with each position you list. Be specific and use active verbs. For example, "Bred, foaled, boarded, started, trained and showed six horses in halter and performance." List duties you performed at each job such as jumping, barn maintenance, showing, dressing horses or training. List the location where you worked and the time period in which you worked.

  • 4). List any formal education or training you have in a final section entitled, "Education." Include any professional certifications you hold in this section. Provide the name of the school or certification you hold along with the year in which you received the degree or certification.

  • 5). Include your references at the bottom of the resume. Get permission from your references to use their names as contacts before listing them. Provide their full names, contact information and their connection to you, such as a supervisor or manager at a former job you held.
