Learn How to Make Money on the Internet and How to Get Started Blogging

You may think that the first step to making money with your blog is to get a blog, but you'd be wrong. That's sort of like saying that the first step to opening a restaurant is renting a dining room. Anyone who's serious about running a successful restaurant would never just go out and rent a random place and set up shop. They'd research the market, figure out how their restaurant could fit into it then hunt for the right location. When it comes to making money blogging, the subject you choose to write about is your "location". Choosing the right subject for your blog is as important as choosing the right location for your restaurant.

Picking Niches that Generate Revenue in Blogging

Of course, it's much easier to tell if a real life location is a good place to locate a restaurant. You just look for certain things - the amount of foot traffic, whether or not people in the area go out to eat, what kind of food people like to eat and how much competition you'll have. You wouldn't locate a Chinese restaurant in a neighborhood that already has five Chinese restaurants or on a deserted side street with no traffic - unless you wanted to fail.

You'll find that the same things apply to making cash blogging - you just have to adjust your thinking slightly to make the analogy fit. In blogging parlance, the subject of your blog is called a "niche" - as in niche marketing. If you want to make money blogging, you need to find a niche that people search for often. All of the major search engines provide free tools where you can check to see how many people search for various subjects each month. Those tools will help you evaluate which subjects are the most likely to attract readers.

Your blog can be about almost anything - and there are ways to make cash blogging in just about any subject from celebrity gossip to how to play chess. You'll find niches within niches - for example, you might decide you want to write a blog about television shows. When you start digging, you may find that lots of people are searching for information about "next project runway" - and blogs about Project Runway attract ads about Project Runway full episodes, which a lot of people will click on and ka-ching! Every one of those clicks puts money in your account. There aren't anywhere near as many people who want to read about Masterpiece Theater, though, so the chances that you'll make money blogging about Masterpiece Theater are much lower than if you were writing a Project Runway blog.
