How to Hang a Garden Trellis
- 1). Measure the wall or fence where want to hang your trellis. Be sure that you have enough space for the trellis.
- 2). Purchase two 2-by-2 pieces of wood the length of your trellis to attach to your house or wood fence. Find the studs underneath the siding of the house. Look for the nails holding up the siding. For fences, you can attach the two 2-by-2s directly to the fence.
- 3). Mark the 2-by-2s with a pencil so that it balanced when it holds up the trellis. Also, make the marks on the trellis where you intend to drill holes for the lag screws to the 2-by-2. Drill the holes for your lag screws.
- 4). Screw in your four lag screws so that they penetrate both 2-by-2 pieces of wood. Make sure that your lag screws are large enough to deeply screw into the siding and wood.
- 5). Have a friend hole up the trellis while you drill through the trellis to the 2-by-2 boards. Make sure you have at least four lag screws attached at each side of the trellis.
