- 1). Look at the latches if your bowl won't go onto the machine correctly. The bowl on any Hobart mixer has a knob sticking out of the back side and two tabs with holes on the right and left sides. If you have the knob sticking into the hole in the back of the mixer stand, the latches that hold the right and left tabs may be either swung in the way of the tabs or bent out of shape. Move the tabs or bend them back with needle nose pliers.
- 2). Search inside the spindle housing if you have a hard time attaching the dough hook. The most common problem with the dough hook is buildup on the spindle or up inside the housing. Flour and tiny aerosol droplets of grease combine to form a coating on the parts that build up, leaving less and less room for the hook to slide onto the spindle. Scrub the spindle and up inside the housing with a degreasing cleaner and a plastic scrub pad.
- 3). Look at your electrical system first if your mixer will not turn on after you throw the switch. Make sure the unit is plugged into an outlet, and that the plug is secure in the wall. Look at your circuit breakers to make sure the outlet is live. If you don't have any problem with your electrical system, this is the time to call the Hobart repair department.
