One Study Showed a 29 Percent Decrease in Premature Wrinkles

Premature wrinkles are often caused by sun damage.
Until recently, only a cosmetic surgeon could provide much help for these problems.
Now, there are topically applied creams that are effective.
It just takes some effort to find a good one.
Most manufacturers are aware of the effective ingredients.
The claims that they make for their products are based on clinical trials.
So, they are "evidence-based" claims.
The problem is that the companies don't include "enough" of the effective ingredient to do much good.
Not all companies are the same, of course.
Some of them do make every effort to provide a good product.
Your best bet is to buy products that are guaranteed to satisfy.
There is one company that allows you to return empty bottles.
You can use the whole bottle.
If you find that it doesn't work for you, you can return it and get your money back.
That shows confidence in the product.
The big companies that focus on mass production cannot respond quickly to new research.
Only the smaller companies can do that.
Judging by the latest research concerning premature wrinkles, every company should be including coenzyme Q10 in their creams and lotions.
Coenzyme Q10 or COQ10 is vitamin-like substance that is present in nearly every living cell.
It is necessary for generating energy and involved in cellular respiration.
It is also a potent antioxidant.
The sun damage that leads to early wrinkling occurs on a molecular level.
UV rays from the sun stimulate the production of free radical molecules, within the skin.
Antioxidants attempt to neutralize the molecules before they can damage skin cell membranes, DNA strands and collagen fibers.
The skin's COQ10 levels are quickly depleted.
Basically, the free radicals win and premature wrinkles are the result.
Most people realize that antioxidants are important to prevent free radicals from doing damage.
But, many people do not realize that COQ10 and other antioxidants can repair damage that has been done by free radicals in the "past".
Researchers have looked at the effectiveness of basic antioxidants like vitamin A, C and E.
They are all effective, to a certain extent, just not quite as effective as COQ10.
How effective is it? One study showed a 29% decrease in premature wrinkles after six weeks of use.
The hope is that this improvement will continue over time and if a person cares for their skin properly, it should.
They should use gentle cleansers and always follow up with a nourishing moisturizer.
COQ10 is only one of the nutrients that are important to the skin's health.
Vitamin E, essential fatty acids and specific kinds of proteins are also important.
At concentrations that exist in some products, vitamin A and C can cause dryness and irritation.
It's best to look for a product that includes extracts from plants that provide those nutrients.
Kelp and avocado are examples.
Follow those tips.
Remember to shield your face from the sun, whenever possible, and over time, you should see those premature wrinkles start to fade away.
