- 1). Choose fabric paint or a fabric pen that is meant to be used on nylon material. These paints make for a good medium to draw with, and they create a permanent bond with the fabric. Make sure that, when reading the paint or pen, it is specifically meant for nylon.
- 2). Practice your drawing and design on a scrap piece of nylon that is similar to your final material. You need to make sure that the paint or pen will work on your nylon, and that you have the drawing style and form down to where you want. This prevents problems, such as the paint not working, and it helps eliminate mistakes that will ruin the actual nylon object or fabric you want your finished product on.
- 3). Stretch the fabric out so that it is flat and hold it that way while you draw. Make sure that your strokes don't cause the fabric to wrinkle and ruin your drawing. Once you have completed your design give it time to dry and to bond with the nylon fibers.
