• Florida considers many factors when determining the types of alimony available, the amount of alimony to be awarded and the duration of alimony. The factors include the length of the marriage. Time Frame

• The alimony lasts as long as the court will allow the divorce proceeding to last. The party receiving the alimony must not delay the divorce hearings and finalization for the purpose of prolonging the temporary alimony.

• You must make a motion requesting the alimony in court. The motion must be well-founded in showing the temporary alimony is necessary for support during the divorce.
