Cat Birthday Party Ideas

104 16
    • Cat party supplies are abundant. You can find them online or in local party supply stores; you can even find them in your local pet stores. You can make the party more catty by creating your own supplies that not only have cats on them but also cat related items, such as mice or yarn.

    Invitations

    • Draw mice on construction paper and cut them out. Allow your child to help decorate the mice. On the back, write your invitation. You can indicate for the children to come in costume. Advise them to all dress as a cat. If you prefer, you can buy invitations that are already printed with cat themes.

    Decorations

    • Look online or in party supply stores for cat themed banners, balloons, plates and napkins. Place stuffed cats around the room for added decorations. Purchase little fuzzy mice cat toys and randomly place them around the party room. You can also make balls of yarn. For the outside, have your child draw cat paw prints in sidewalk chalk leading up to the front door, prior to the party.

    Activities

    • Bury cat themed toys, such as small balls or plastic mice, in a sandbox and allow the children to dig through the sand to find them. Or you can purchase cat littler scoops and allow the children to use those to dig through the sand. Allow the children to create their own balls of yarn by giving them Styrofoam balls, yarn and glue. Simply have them apply some glue to the balls and then wrap yarn around them. If you'd like to hold a cat show for the guests, have each guest bring their own stuffed cat. Have a few extra on hand in case a guest forgets to bring one. Set up tables around the room so each child will have their own station. Have combs and ribbons available so the guests can decorate their cat and then have a cat show with you as the judge. Make ribbons a head of time so that you will have enough for every guest to have one. Create fun awards like best use of ribbon, longest whiskers or fluffiest coat.

    Cake

    • Creating a cake that fits into your theme doesn't have to be difficult. For a simple cake, make a round cake. Frost the cake with white icing. Then place black icing into a zip top bag with a cut corner and pipe the icing into the shape of a black cat's face. Write a birthday message on the cake. Another simple cake would be a sheet cake that is frosted white or another color of your choosing. Then place small plastic cats on the cake. If you are more adventurous, you can make a ball of yarn. To do this either purchase a sports ball cake mold from a craft store or else use two Pyrex bowls that are the same size. Once the cakes are baked, take the two half spheres and put them together to make a ball. Cover the ball in fondant and draw lines in the fondant to make it look like yarn. You can then mold cats out of modeling chocolate and place them on the ball of yarn to finish the cake.
