How to Clean a Stained Granite Sink
- 1). Clear the sink of any dishes. Add a few drops of mild dish soap or natural stone soap to a wet sponge or cloth.
- 2). Wipe the entire surface of the sink, including around the sides and the drain. Concentrate scrubbing on the stain.
- 3). Rinse the sink with water and dry it with a clean towel. Inspect the stain. Clean the stain with ammonia if the stain still shows.
- 4). Mix 1/4 cup ammonia with 1/2 gallon of water in a bucket. Dip a clean cloth into the solution and wring it out.
- 5). Wipe the stain with the cloth, and allow the ammonia solution to sit for five minutes.
- 6). Rinse the ammonia solution with water and dry the sink with a clean towel.
- 1). Pour baking soda into a bowl and add enough water to make a thick paste with the consistency of peanut butter. Stir it well with a spoon. How much to use depends on the size of the stain. Make enough to cover the stain 1/2 inch thick.
- 2). Cut a piece of plastic from the bag with scissors to a size slightly larger than the stain.
- 3). Spread the poultice onto the stain with a spoon. Cover the mixture with the plastic and tape it in place. Allow the mixture to sit for 24 hours.
- 4). Remove the tape and plastic, and rinse away the mixture with water. Dry the area with a soft cloth.
