Hillary Clinton Frying Political Steak in Iowa
Democratic presumed frontrunner makes sizzling appearance at event for Senator Tom Harkin.
Senator Harkin's steak fry is a Democratic institution dating back long before the Clinton's themselves became part of the US "political furniture".
This was the Senators 37th jamboree and his last and is an important campaign event for the Democratic candidate, Bruce Braley, seeking to succeed Harkin in Iowa.
Hillary Rodham and Bill Clinton were officially there to support their friend, the retiring Senator.
Harkin introduced the former Secretary of State and New York State Senator to the crowd.
"to think you all came here to see me.
Who am I kidding" and then went on to introduce the Clintons as "the comeback couple".
"Hello Iowa!, I'm back" Her greeting got the loudest applause "Hello Iowa! I'm back!" This is Hillary Clinton's first political appearance since she stepped down as Secretary of State and the first time back in Iowa since the defeat to her campaign as Presidential nominee in 2007.
Iowa was the state in which ostensibly her campaign came to an end and the favor shifted to Barack Obama.
"It's true.
I'm thinking about it.
" When asked about her intentions, Hillary answered "This is about people running right now, 2014", but later she did allude to her likely presidential campaign, "I've got a few things on my mind these days.
First, and most importantly, Bill and I are on constant grandchild watch...
Then there's that other thing.
It's true I'm thinking about it.
" Polls show Clinton way ahead of her possible opponents, Vice President Joe Bidden - He will be in Des Moines later this week -, Massachusetts senator Elizabeth Warren and Maryland governor Martin O'Malley.
Ready for Hillary, the Super Pac had troops on the ground preparing for the potential run.
Students flew in from the West Coast distributing Hilary t-shirts, "Ready" placards were everywhere and "Hillary" stickers were adhered to cars.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and it is as such we will most likely view this weekend as the moment when Hillary Rodham Clinton made public her intention to run for President of the United States.
"Hillary was a good candidate last time, but sometimes it's what fate throws at you, and Barack Obama was making history," said Irene Hardisty, a 61-year old mortgage finance specialist from Des Moines.
"This time she will make history.
" "She was wonderful," Sue LaPlante, a certified nursing assistant from Des Moines, said after the speech.
"If she runs, she will be the next president.
