Calculate Your Dryer Cost

• 1). Check your dryer manual for the amount of power consumed by the dryer when it runs. If you cannot find that figure, know that most dryers use five kilowatts of energy. Washers and dryers are large appliances that use more voltage and watts than small appliances.
  
  
• 2). Find out how much electricity costs in your area. Generally, the cost is 10 cents per kilowatt hour, but it varies.
  
  
• 3). Determine how long you use your dryer per week.
  
  
• 4). Multiply five kilowatts of energy by the kilowatt cost per hour, then multiply that total by your dryer use each week.
