All-American Rejects - Move Along
About.com Rating
The Bottom Line
Following their top 5 smash hit "Dirty Little Secret,"
Oklahoma's All-American Rejects have released the title song of their album Move Along as their next single. It is another slice of catchy pop-rock this time attached to an uplifting, encouraging message. There is little lyrical depth here, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Listen to "Move Along."

Guide Review - All-American Rejects - Move Along
With a little help from the popular PostSecret web site, All-American Rejects climbed clear into the top 5 of the pop singles chart with their hit "Dirty Little Secret." The followup single, "Move Along," is swiftly following the same path with strong support from mainstream pop radio. This chart success makes All-American Rejects the buzz band of the moment on the hot Black Clouds and Underdogs tour.
Musically, "Move Along" is an advance beyond "Dirty Little Secret." The lyrics convey a simple, but uplifting message - "even when your hope is gone, move along." I hear echoes of R.E.M.'s classic "Everybody Hurts." A breakdown to solo piano and vocals along with propulsive piano and guitar chords add instrumental interest to otherwise straightforward pop-rock.
All-American Rejects will win no awards for innovation with this single. However, for energetic pop-rock radio fare, "Move Along" nicely fills the bill.
