HSSV in Silicon Valley Offers Innovative Programs for Homeless Animals
My introduction to the Humane Society Silicon Valley came quite by accident. I had received an offer of an Infograph about HSSV's Programs for Dogs from Leanne, an Account Executive with a PR firm representating HSSV. To soften my email of rejection (because my job is to write about cats), I mentioned that when my husband was alive we had on many occasions visited a pet store on Maiden Lane where she worked in San Francisco.
One email led to another, until Leanne wrote me about the miraculous work HSSV was doing for its Community Cats, along with dozens of other programs. I was sold, and believe in my heart it is well worth my time and that of my readers to learn more about this Mecca for homeless animals and those who care for them and love them.
About HSSV
The HSSV Shelter is an independent, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and does not receive funding from HSUS, ASPCA, or local, state or federal government entities. It depends entirely on donations, as well as fees for certain programs, such as Pet Care Services (including among other services, affordable spay/neuter, vaccines, microchips, pet grooming; education programs for kids, including Summer Camps, and other services.Â
HSSV provides both euthanization and cremation services, and with its spirit of compassion also offers grief counseling through its Companion Animal Loss Support Group
HSSV also has a dozen partners at this time, including PETCO, which provides an adoption center and internet advertising of available pets; Royal Canin, the official sponsor of HSSV's Adoption Program; HomeAgain microchips, which are used for all of the dogs, cats, and rabbits adopted through HSSV; and NBC Bay Area, which promotes the adoption of HSSV's cats and dogs on its station.
