Health Dangers and Lies You Have Been Told Surrounding High Fructose Corn Syrup
The jig is up.
It's no secret that high fructose corn syrup is detrimental to your health.
Unless you have been under a rock for the last few years you have seen a massive media campaign done by a group called (C.
R.
A.
) Corn Refiners Association, to repair the damaged public image of high fructose corn syrup (H.
F.
C.
S.
).
Or perhaps you have seen similar brand masking going on with the new word corn sugar.
A simple re-brand of high fructose corn syrup.
C.
R.
A.
: "It's made from corn, has no artificial ingredients, has the same calories as sugar and is okay to eat in moderation" No artificial ingredients but made from genetically altered corn.
Sound natural? It's a CORNY LIE! If you have ever taken a look at how HFCS is derived from after all the processing, refining and just the chemicals added it's enough to make you puke.
Watch the documentary called King Corn to see exactly what I'm talking about.
Unfortunately, in the 21st century most of Western society among others has depended heavily on processed foods.
Makes sense for businesses for being cheaper it has thus replaced other forms of sugar in a disturbingly large number of manufactured foods.
Even worse is that most high fructose corn syrup is made from genetically modified corn.
H.
F.
C.
S.
has replaced regular table sugar, honey, and similar sweeteners or anything similar at an alarmingly high rate.
Prolonged consumption of H.
F.
C.
S.
as we are now learning can cause long-term damage to the body.
The Ongoing debate: Is High-Fructose Corn Syrup worse for you than sugar? People often debate a comparison of high fructose corn syrup and sugar.
Seems to be more an act of stupidity than well-founded debate.
Regarding your health processed foods are evil, and at the top of the list sits H.
F.
C.
S.
Excess consumption is linked to obesity, diabetes, premature aging and excess abdominal fat among other things.
However sugar has been linked to some of these problems too but I personally avoid H.
F.
C.

at all costs, but not necessarily sugar.
I choose to minimize sugar greatly instead of avoiding altogether.
In my opinion the two things that are the worst possible things to ingest that are FDA approved are H.
F.
C.
S.
and trans fat.
Avoid them at all costs.
They cause the most biochemical damage of all foods.
High fructose corn syrups as well as trans fats can be readily found in soda pops, cereals, processed snacks, salad dressing.
Just about anything that comes in a box is processed and uses H.
F.
C.
S.
to sweeten it up.
I never touch the stuff.
Especially when I'm at home.
Organ ketchup and homemade salad dressing are all that is kept inside my home.
Despite the propaganda that the Corn Refiners Association is trying to shove down your throat with their ads, there is just too much evidence that your body processes H.
F.
C.
S.
differently than sugar.
A main reason to stay away.
A number of studies conducted over the past few decades indicate that consumption of H.
F.
C.
S.
is connected with a wide range of health concerns.
Here are a few of the more well-known health dangers that high fructose corn syrup can put in your body: Princeton Study showing H.
F.
C.
S.
can stimulate more weight gain than sugar.
Here we go with some more hard evidence to showcase against high fructose corn syrup.
Done by the highly respected Princeton University showing how H.
F.
C.
S makes you fatter than sugar.
Rats received water sweetened with H.
F.
C.
S.
The rats consuming this water gained significantly more weight than the rats that received water sweetened by sugar.
This conclusion was obtained despite equal calorie consumption by both groups.
The researches stated: "In addition to causing significant weight gain in lab animals, long-term consumption of high-fructose corn syrup also led to abnormal increases in body fat, especially in the abdomen, and a rise in circulating blood fats called triglycerides".
Don't believe me? Check out the study right here: 2010 Princeton University study.
Now let's give a little evidence to go against what the claims by the Corn Refiners Association said about H.
F.
C.
S.
being "no worse than sugar.
" Professor Bart Hoebel, who specializes in the neuroscience of appetite, weight and sugar addiction...
"Some people have claimed that high-fructose corn syrup is no different than other sweeteners when it comes to weight gain and obesity, but our results make it clear that this just isn't true, at least under the conditions of our tests.
When rats are drinking high-fructose corn syrup at levels well below those in soda pop, they're becoming obese -- every single one, across the board.
Even when rats are fed a high-fat diet, you don't see this; they don't all gain extra weight.
" Also noted in this study researches say H.
F.
C.
S.
caused an increase in visceral fat, more deadly than subcutaneous fat which is a very serious health concern.
Here you will see how H.
F.
C.
S.
is absorbed differently than sugar.
Princeton researchers saw that it was the fructose found in H.
F.
C.
S.
that was absorbed by the body differently.
"as a result of the manufacturing process for high-fructose corn syrup, the fructose molecules in the sweetener are free and unbound, ready for fast absorption and utilization.
In contrast, every fructose molecule in sucrose that comes from cane sugar or beet sugar is bound to a corresponding glucose molecule and must go through an extra metabolic step before it can be utilized.
" Yet another reason why H.
F.
C.
S.
differs from sugar is that it appears to not trigger leptin.
Leptin is what is responsible for signaling the body to decrease appetite.
This is often the case with many artificial sweeteners.

High Fructose Corn Syrup Dangers 1.
Increased Weight Gain & Obesity Princeton University found that rats fed H.
F.
C.
S.
gained fat 300% more quickly than those fed an equal (or larger) dose of sugar.
2.
Increased Risk of Developing Type 2 Diabetes Diabetes is a well-known horrible disease.
Large doses of H.
F.
C.
S.
found in highly consumed beverages and foods like soda, energy drinks, junk food can readily increase the likelihood of developing diabetes.
Avoiding these foods at all costs.
3.
Increased "Bad" Cholesterol Levels An increasing link between consumption of H.
F.
C.
S.
to increased triglyceride and HDL (bad cholesterol) in the body is becoming well known.
Irresponsible extended intake of this sweetener can lead you to not only a fat body but a fat heart too.
This plaque build-up inside arteries can eventually lead to dangerous heart conditions.
4.
Long-Term Liver Damage Like anything you eat or drink, H.
F.
C.
S.
is processed by your liver, gallbladder and kidneys.
This damaging effect of H.
F.
C.
S.
is often overlooked though it can be destructive to your liver, a vital organ.
Over time this greatly diminishes the organ's ability to rid the body of dangerous toxins.
You get the point.
An estimation of 1/3 of American food is polluted by H.
F.
C.
S.
The dangers listed alone should be enough to change your mind against the evil high fructose corn syrup.
Remember I never said sugar was good (obvious) but I did show you some reasons why HFCS is far WORSE than sugar alone.
The increase in abdominal fat alone is enough to make me steer clear all together.
I urge you to read food labels before consumption and try some healthier alternatives to sweeten like Stevia or raw honey.
You also got some serious info on how some food associations can be very deceptive.
Our example about the Corn Refiners Association have led us down that road.
Now you know the truth.
