Many people who suffer from excessive sweating armpits might not agree with that though. They spend their lives worrying about people seeing unsightly sweat stains on their clothes and dread the thought of embarrassing wet patches appearing under their arms. Armpit sweat can be embarrassing and thousands of people spend their lives worrying about it to the point that they daren't even raise their arms in public; it can be a real problem.

Although many people associate it with people who don't take enough showers, (and this can be one reason) or use sufficient deodorant, the problem of armpit sweat can also be down to clinical and biological conditions which can be improved with correct treatment. In truth, armpit sweat is an absolutely necessary function of our bodies and is quite normal. It is one way in which the body can cool itself down when it is in danger of overheating due to emotional stress, physical exercise or when the temperature is just simply boiling hot. It's also an effective method of lubrication for our arms against the torso – sweating armpits aren't only a bad thing.

There can be lots of different reasons why excessive armpit sweat is more of a problem for some people than it is for others. Very often the reason is easily identifiable, diet can be a bit contributor as can fitness levels, but other biological factors can also attribute which may be a little more difficult to pin down. Some common reasons for unusually high armpit sweat are stress, obesity, the menopause, puberty, spicy food and panic attacks. One real shame is that constantly worrying about the problem of armpit sweat can actually make things much worse.

Embarrassing stains on clothes are only one bi-product of sweating armpits, the other which is often thought to be even worse news is the foul smell which is caused by a build up of bacteria and can make any problems even worse. Over the counter antiperspirants and deodorants are designed simply to mask any moisture and odor problems and not deal with the real reasons. Other relatively simple ways, however, can make a big difference.

Although we've already said that it's not always associated with cleanliness, taking frequent showers can still help to cut down on the problem, as well as wearing natural fiber (preferably pure cotton) clothes which are loose fitting and allow room for the air to circulate and your skin to breathe. You can also help to keep your armpits clean and dry by shaving them, giving the bacteria less chance to breed and cause those nasty smells.

As a last resort you can enquire about medical procedures for the most extreme cases but very often you'll find that by following some of these simple and natural techniques your problems will become less noticeable.  If shop bought "off the shelf" type antiperspirants and deodorants are simply not strong enough then enquire at your local pharmacy and see if they have something a little stronger available. You might also find that your doctor or local health center can help, if you really feel that the problem is out of control and ruining your life. Don't let sweating armpit problems ruin your life, there are ways to help keep the problem under control.
