The Great American Recovery Charade

105 12
Based on the Department of Labor's June Job's Report, the Washington Examiner reported a slight but ominous variation in the rosy picture the Obama administration likes to paint about America's anemic economic recovery and a sure indicator of the strength of any recovery - employment stats. There are, in fact, more jobs out there, but don't count on them to provide decent wages or long-term employment stability sufficient for a down payment on a new home or even for a new car.

After various government entities, the largest employer in America is not GM or GE or Microsoft but Wal-Mart followed by Kelly Services, a temporary work provider. Part-time jobs now stand at an all-time high (28 million) with a record number of Americans holding temporary positions, approximately 2.7 million, a disturbing, growing trend. In the first quarter of 2013, U.S. staffing companies employed an average of 2.86 million temp and contract workers, 2.9% higher than in the first quarter of 2012. In June, 2013 there was a 6.7% growth over last year.

Temp jobs made up about 10 percent of the jobs lost during the Great Recession and because of high turnover (the average length of temp employment is 3 months before a worker moves on), one in 10 non-farm workers were employed by a US staffing firm at some point during the past year, and nearly 20% of all jobs gained since the recession ended have been temporary positions.

At the same time, full-time jobs decreased by another 240,000.

As far as recoveries go, after five years of pain, suffering, and stimuli that only stimulated votes for Democrats, this has been the worst recovery in American economic history.

Breitbart.com has another take on the Great American Recovery Charade.

In a more positive vein, Brieitbart noted that the June Jobs' Report was a relief for the stock market in that the Labor Department reported the economy gained 195,000 jobs, which beat expectations and that the economy added 70,000 more jobs in April and May than experts estimated.

Breitbart noted, too, €The report, however, also provides clear evidence that the nation is splitting into two; only 47% of Americans have a full-time job and those who don't are finding it increasingly out of reach. Of the 144 million Americans employed last month, only 116 million were working full-time. Friday's report showed that 58.7% of the civilian adult population of 245 million was working last month. Only 47% of Americans, however, had a full-time job.€

Like the Washington Examiner, Breitbart.com sees through the facade that is the Obama recovery and recognizes the ugly realities that, €If today the same proportion of Americans worked as just a decade ago, there would be almost 9 million more people working. Just in the last year, almost 2 million Americans have left the labor force... There is a growing number of Americans slipping through the cracks of the job market.€

That number, if left to increase, would spell eventual disaster for America's workforce. Those cracks, if left to widen, will grow into an incredible chasm rendered even worse by news the U.S. Department of Agriculture has estimated that 101,000,000 people participated in at least one of the 15 food programs offered by the agency at a cost of $114 billion in fiscal year 2012. That figure surpasses the number of full-time private sector workers in America by some four million and means that nearly a third of Americans now receive food aid from the government.

I guess this is what candidate Obama meant when he said, €Change we can believe in€ back in 2008, although he doesn't seem to say that much anymore for some reason.

Add to those scary numbers, newly released data by the Social Security Administration that show that 10,978,040 Americans are now are receiving disability benefits, more people collecting disability than there are residents of Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, New Jersey or Virginia.

Conflicted? Biased? Wha.. who, me?€¦€¦ President Obama Attended Fear not, though. Barack Hussein Obama still has a job and there is little likelihood of his collecting food stamps or disability payments in the near future. And, when his eleven million undocumented alien friends all get their green cards and legally enter the work force, the unemployment situation is sure to improve and our stagnant economy will take off like a rocket - out of hell.
