How to Turn on the Norton Auto-Protect
- 1). Right-click the Norton Auto-Protect icon on the system tray next to the clock if you want to temporarily disable Auto-Protect. A menu launches.
- 2). Click the "Disable" option to disable the feature. A red circle with a slash appears on the Auto-Protect icon, indicating that it has been disabled.
- 3). Launch Norton Antivirus if you want to disable Auto-Protect permanently. If you are using Auto-Protect in Norton Internet Security or Norton SystemWorks, start either program.
- 4). Click the "Options" button, and then click "Norton Antivirus." Click the "Auto-Protect" option in the left pane.
- 5). Clear the "Enable Auto-Protect" and "Start Auto-Protect when Windows starts up (recommended)" check-boxes in the right pane.
- 6). Click "OK" to save your changes, close your Norton program and restart your computer.
