    • 1). Place the coffee maker on a stable, even surface and plug it in.

    • 2). Twist the carafe lid in the "Open" direction to remove it. Fill the carafe with cold water.

    • 3). Open the water reservoir cover and pour the water from the carafe into the reservoir. Make as much or as as little coffee as you need by following the level indicator markings on the reservoir. Do not fill the reservoir over the "S-Cup" mark. Close the cover.

    • 4). Preheat the carafe by running warm water through it. This step protects the thermal lining from cracking when hot coffee drips into it and keeps your coffee warmer. Replace the lid on the carafe, turning it in the "Close" direction.

    • 5). Grasp the handle of the filter basket and swing it out. Place a filter in the basket.

    • 6). Measure 2 tbsp. of ground coffee per cup of water into the filter and swing it back into the closed position. Press the "On" button.

    • 7). Listen for the beep that indicates the brewing cycle is complete.

    • 8). Check to make sure the carafe is in the "Closed" position and pour a cup of coffee.

    • 9). Clean the coffee maker after each use. Press the "Off" button, unplug the appliance then open the filter basket and discard the used grounds. Wash the carafe by hand in hot, soapy water, rinse and dry it with a soft cloth. Do not put the carafe in the dishwasher.
