Best Outdoor Activities For Children

105 4
During school breaks such as during the summer and Christmas seasons, many parents are often at a loss on how to keep their children preoccupied. Without the regular school routine, kids need direction, supervision, and guidance on how to spend their time. Aside from the usual arts and crafts activities, it is good to let the children go out of the house to do some activities. The question is once again what activity to provide them with.

There is really no single best outdoor activity for children. There are, however, plenty of Philippine outdoor activities that you can choose from depending on your child's temperament and age; your objectives for going out; and the number of people that your child is with. Here are three examples you can choose from.

Washing the car

Also called taking a bath outside while getting the car wet, this is a fun outdoor activity that can be done with the kids. It's a perfect excuse opportunity to spend some quality time with the children while getting some of the chores done, sort of.

The key here is to involve as much of the family as possible - all the kids, the parents, and everyone else in the house. The more participants, the livelier it usually gets. Also, there is no age requirement for this particular activity. For as long as your child/children is/are old enough to walk steadily on the wet floor, then there should be no problem.

Exploring the backyard

If your child is into wildlife, insects, and the like, then exploring the backyard can be the best outdoor activity for them aside from bringing them to a weekend getaway in the Philippines. This can be done in groups, by pairs, or individually. All they basically need is a magnifying glass and some protective covering (preferably boots, long pants, a cap, and a long sleeved top) and they should be ready to explore. However, despite sounding all Dora and everything, this particular activity also involves plenty of risks.

First of all, aside from being home to plants, insects, and bugs, the backyard can also provide temporary shelter for some nasty creatures such as snakes, centipedes, or other poisonous animals. Make sure that you go with them when they explore and that you have done your own initial exploration to check if the backyard is safe before they go there.

Second, mosquitoes will most probably be present there also, so cover your children with some mosquito repellant to prevent them from being bitten.

Riding a bicycle

Bike rides can also be a fun activity for both your children and you (assuming you can still ride). Obviously, your kids have to know how to ride also. Otherwise, you can just turn this whole activity into learning the skill instead of a leisure ride somewhere.
The biggest catch here, however, is you and your children should both enjoy riding, because if you don't, then there is no sense in doing it at all.
