How to Update the AMI BIOS
- 1). Identify your motherboard by unplugging your keyboard and restarting your computer. Record the "Bios Release" number. Also record the BIOS identification string in the lower left hand corner of the screen.
- 2). Identify the bold numbers in the identification string. These numbers represent the type of AMI motherboard in your computer. If the motherboard was manufactured between 1986 and 1990, the bold numbers are located after the letters "DINT." If the motherboard was manufactured on or after 1991, the bold numbers are located toward the end of the identification string after the letters "AMI."
- 3). Access the AMI support website and scroll down to "Step 3: Select your AMI motherboard from the following list." Select your motherboard from the drop-down menu and click "Submit."
- 4). Download AMIFlash by clicking the link and agreeing to the terms of service. Save the file to the desktop and double-click the .zip file. Click "Extract" to uncompress the file. Double-click the installer file and follow the onscreen instructions.
- 5). Download the BIOS update by clicking the version number under "BIOS Updates." Agree to the terms of service and save the .zip file to the desktop. Double-click the file and click "Extract" to uncompress it. Double-click the installer and follow the onscreen instructions. Reboot your computer after the BIOS update is complete.
