Dodge Truck 4 Wheel Information
- Dodge 4X4s are equipped with a "4-HI" setting that locks the front and rear drive shafts for better traction and stronger hauling power. By locking all four wheels, the truck better grips wet roads and hilly, graveled terrain. By setting the 4X4 to "4-LO," the Dodge pickup drops the rear reduction ratio to 2.72:1 for strenuous work, such as pulling tree stumps or climbing rocky hills.
- All Ram pickups with the four-wheel drive option have five-speed automatic transmissions and the Dodge's "Electric Shift-on-the-Fly" part-time transfer case. In the front is a 205MM heavy-duty axle, while the rear has a 9.25 light duty rear axle. The five-speed automatic transmits power to the four wheels from a 4.7-liter V8 or 5.7-liter Hemi V8.
- The Dodge four-wheel drive models ride on 20-by-9-inch aluminum chrome-coated wheels with P275/60R20 all-season tires. The wheels have locking lug nuts. Some models are equipped with 17-by-7-inch aluminum wheels.
