How to Eliminate Hair Oil Stains From Leather
- 1). Wipe excess hair oil from the leather with a clean cloth. Avoid pushing the oil into the leather. Blot gently to remove as much of the stain as possible.
- 2). Pour corn starch generously over the entire stain, covering it completely. Rapidly rub the corn starch into the leather with your fingertips, allowing it to soak up the oil that may have seeped deeper into the material. Leave the corn starch on the leather for five minutes.
- 3). Sweep the corn starch from leather furniture with a hand vacuum or the hose attachment on a sweeper. Brush the corn starch from leather clothing or purses with your hand. Wipe the remaining corn starch from the leather with a soft cloth. If the stain remains, reapply the corn starch and allow it to stay on the leather for 20 minutes before sweeping it away.
- 4). Spray a leather conditioner onto the affected area of the leather. Allow the conditioner five minutes to soak into the leather. Wipe excess conditioner from the leather with a clean cloth. The conditioner provides needed emollients removed by the corn starch and keeps leather from drying and cracking.
