    Cabin Trailer Size

    • If you do plan on taking this cabin out regularly, go for a smaller design since it can better handle the wear and tear of travel. Larger portable cabin trailers are hard to maneuver and you need a vehicle large enough to handle it. These types of cabin trailers are mostly used as either a home or second home.

    Cabin Trailer Accessories

    • Make sure that the cabin trailer has full hookups, including water, electric and sewerage. Just like RVs and motorhomes, this will act as your home away from home, which means that you need all the amenities. This will also allow you to stay in regular RV parks as long as your portable cabin trailer is of standard size. Owners of oversized cabin trailers should call ahead to see if the selected RV park can accommodate you. Ensure that the log construction of your travel trailer is tight and sealed as this will prevent leakage. Invest in a portable trailer that has all furniture and appliances securely fixed to either the walls or floor. If not, everything will slide when you are moving. If, however, you decide to permanently park your portable cabin trailer somewhere, you may add additional accessories that do not need to be secured, such as movable chairs or a television.

    Pricing

    • The smaller portable cabin trailers are comparable to many regular pull-behind trailers. These generally start around $12,000 but they will go up in price depending on what amenities or additional furniture are required. The larger portable cabin trailers, however, can be significantly higher with some reaching prices of nearly $20,000. Always price out several companies before buying and try to figure out what features are included for the lower-end prices. Look at your budget. Really nail down what you can and cannot afford. Companies should work with you on customizable features and they should be able to give you a rough estimate of how much the cabin trailer will finally cost you. Before the company begins work on your portable cabin, ask for the floor plans, and try to figure out what else you may need to live comfortably on the road.
