How to Use iDisk for Backup

    • 1). Turn on your Apple Macintosh computer and plug it in if you are using a laptop to ensure that your computer does not run out of battery power while in operation.

    • 2). Open the Web browser on your Mac and navigate to the MobileMe online service. Log in using your Apple ID and password. You can also open the Finder on your Mac and select the iDisk bar on the left part of the box underneath the Devices label. If you are not logged in to your MobileMe account, your Mac will prompt you to do so before going an further.

    • 3). Click on the MobileMe "Cloud" button in the upper left portion of the screen after signing into your Mobile Me account.

    • 4). Select the folder location underneath your iDisk cloud storage where you want to store a particular file or files. One option for folder storage is your Home, which contains as many folder categories as you desire. You may also want to share the files you are backing up by selecting the "Public" folder box, which allows others to see the files, or you can choose "Shared Files," which allows you to email other users a link to your file. Additionally, you can publish your backup files to a website through iWeb or Aperture by selecting the "Web" folder.

    • 5). Drag files from your Mac computer's hard disk to the iDisk.
