How to Start a Single Phase Motor
- 1). Remove the screws that hold the casing of your motor using a screwdriver.
- 2). Pull the casing off the single-start motor and set it aside.
- 3). Locate the auxiliary winding of the motor. The auxiliary winding should be between the rotor and the AC phase supply. Place the capacitor under the auxiliary winding.
- 4). Attach a wire to the positive terminal of the capacitor. Connect this wire to the wire below the auxiliary winding using a wire crimper. Attach a wire to the negative terminal of the capacitor. Connect the wire to the wire below the auxiliary winding using a wire crimper.
- 5). Replace the casing on the motor using a screwdriver.
- 6). Allow the capacitor to start the motor for two to three minutes. Remove the capacitor when you are finished using the single-start motor.
