    TM53

    • 1). Defeat the Elite Four and the Pokemon Champion at the Indigo Plateau. You may only undertake this challenge after you collect the eight Johto region Gym Badges.

    • 2). Travel to the Battle Frontier west of Olivine City.

    • 3). Compete in the Battle Frontier's various events until you collect 64 Battle Points. As you complete challenges, which usually involve seven rounds of battling, you will earn Battle Points.

    • 4). Go to the Exchange Service Corner in the middle of the Battle Frontier.

    • 5). Exchange your Battle Points for TM53.

    Training Pokemon

    • 1). Obtain Treecko, Lotad, Lileep, Cradily or Shaymin. These Grass-type Pokemon are rare, so you must perform certain actions to receive them. For example, you can obtain Treecko from Steven Stone in Saffron City after you have defeated Red, the Pokemon Master at Mt. Silver. Obtain Lileep and Cradily by reviving the Root Fossil at the Oreburgh Mining Museum.

    • 2). Train your Grass-type Pokemon until it has enough in-battle experience to learn Energy Ball. The amount of necessary experience depends on the Pokemon species. For example, Treecko learns Energy Ball at Level 51, while Lotad learns the attack at Level 45.

    • 3). Delete a move to make room for Energy Ball. A Pokemon can only know four moves at a time and by the time your Grass-type wants to learn Energy Ball, it will likely already have four moves in its arsenal.
