104 3

    Assemble Drive

    • 1). Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the rear face of the external hard drive enclosure. Slide the rear face and circuit board out of the outer enclosure case.

    • 2). Insert the hard drive into the mounting bay on the circuit board tray. Secure the hard drive using the screws included with the enclosure kit to secure the hard drive in the mounting bay.

    • 3). Connect the ribbon cable connector from the circuit board to the pin set on the rear of the hard drive. Press the connector firmly onto the pins until fully seated.

    • 4). Reinsert the circuit board tray, with the installed PS3 hard drive, back into the outer enclosure case. Reinsert the screws that secure the tray to the enclosure case and tighten them.

    Connect and Format Drive

    • 1). Connect the small end of the USB cable to the mini-USB port on the rear face of the external drive. Connect the opposite end of the cable to an empty USB port on the computer. Wait a few minutes while Windows detects the new drive and configures it as a removable storage device. When configuring the new drive, Windows assigns a drive letter accessible in Windows Explorer.

    • 2). Click "Start," then "Computer." Locate the new drive letter assigned by Windows to the new removable storage device. Right-click the drive letter, and then click "Format" on the fly-out menu.

    • 3). Click and select "NTFS" in the "File System" drop-down list. Type a name for the new drive in the "Volume Label" field.

    • 4). Disable the "Quick Format" option, and then click "Start." Wait a few minutes as Windows reformats the drive with the NTFS file system. Click "OK" when the "Format Complete" message appears.

    • 5). Copy files to the new drive just as you would with any other hard drive in your computer.
