Why I Only Style Hair With Round Brushes And A Hair Dryer

You probably have not encountered many hair stylists who do not use a curling iron when they style hair.
I am a hair stylist that does not use a curling iron.
I only use a blow dryer and a round brush.
In other words I only blow-style hair.
(The only exception is when I do an inverted curl on medium to long hair or use a flat iron for super straight styling or use a half round brush for very short hair).
Some people are wondering why.
Typically, regardless of which salon you go to, the curling iron is the hair styling tool of choice.
I prefer the round brush over a curling iron, using different sizes of round brushes and a good hand held hair dryer.
I will tell you why in a minute.
Now I am not talking about the technique where you place several round brushes throughout the hair and leave them there a few minutes before taking them out to style the hair.
The technique I am talking about involves taking inch-wide sections and blow styling them, which will give the hairstyle wonderful body yet a natural look.
I can now imagine what you are thinking, that styling hair that way can't be good, and that the style will have no body and it will never last.
Most people would think that because they have never had their hair styled by a stylist who was good at blow styling hair.
I sometimes get asked by a new client to use the curling iron because she thinks that her style will last longer.
I however explain to her that using the blow styling method will be much better.
Contrary to what most people believe, when using the right technique of course, your hairstyle will last longer when blow styled.
Not only will it last longer, it will also look more natural.
There is no hairstyle that cannot be created with a round brush and a hand held hair dryer, be it soft curls or large curls, smooth or straight, for short or long hair, curly or straight hair, styles with volume or less volume.
The reason why I get better results with blow styling is this.
First, I am able to reach the roots of the hair much better because of the flow of the hot air from the blow dryer which results in shaping the hair right from the scalp and giving it any lift I want by holding the round brush and the blow dryer at the right angle and manipulating the hot air close to the root area.
This makes it possible to shape this area of the hair and give it the proper lift right from the roots.
Achieving that lift makes a big difference to how your hairstyle will look and last.
It is impossible to do with the curling iron,to get this close to the scalp because it would burn your scalp.
Besides, using a curling iron never looks as natural as when hair is styled with a round brush, which is also one of the disadvantages of using a curling iron.
Secondly, and very importantly, I have much more flexibility in styling hair because I can use different sizes of brushes based on how I want the hairstyle to look.
I discovered the different effects of hair styling tools on my own hair, especially since I style my hair myself.
It's a great way to find out what works best and over the years I have perfected the technique of blow styling.
I love hairstyles that look natural but last for several days and in my opinion the blow styling method is the best for achieving this result.
