Easy Way to Lift a Truck

104 3

    Front End Lift Installation

    • 1). Elevate the truck with the use of a hydraulic jack stand and take out the stock suspension pieces such as the torsion bars and its crossmember.

    • 2). Take out the steering knuckle, shock absorber and lower control arm on each side. You can use a power wrench to unbolt these parts.

    • 3). Attach the new subframe of the truck into the transfer case. You will require an extra hand to put the subframe in place, since it is heavy. Loosely fit the drop-down brackets and tighten the bolts with a power wrench.

    • 4). Align the steering by cutting off 1/2 inch from the tie rod and bolt the shock absorbers onto the chassis.

    • 5). Bend the exhaust system slightly or cut in a curved tube to provide the driveshaft with sufficient clearance.

    • 6). Bolt the frame members to install the drop-down brackets for the torsion bars. Replace the torsion bar crossmember after installing the brackets.

    • 7). Place tension on the "pork chop" for the torsion bar using a C-clamp.

    Rear End Lift Installation

    • 1). Lift the rear end of the truck. Take out the stock shocks and bolt the lift brackets for the rear bump stops and the new, longer shocks.

    • 2). Take out the brackets for the leaf springs and fit the riser blocks between the leaf springs and the axle.

    • 3). Secure the riser blocks with the taller U-bolts which come with the lift kit.
