- 1). Pick a special color for the dresses of your bridesmaids and maid of honor. This could be your favorite color, a color that coordinates well with your wedding decor or a color that you simply think would look good opposite your white dress.
- 2). Narrow down the type of design you want. If it's a theme wedding, it's important that the bridesmaids' dresses fit perfectly in with the theme. If you are having a "Grease" style wedding, you'd want poodle skirts to adorn all of the party. If it's a futuristic wedding, the bridal party may be crowned with antennas. Don't be afraid to get wild and crazy in your selection. The bridal party should happily go along with your choices. No girl should complain when it's her turn to help out in creating the wedding of her friend's dreams.
- 3). Have a meeting where several types and styles of dresses are tried on by every member of the bridal party. If there is a large variation of sizes from members of the party, you want to keep that in mind. Very small or large members of the party may feel awkward in revealing, sleeveless or short clothes. Don't assume that she would be. Ask her opinion without referencing any attribute she may have that may make her a candidate for another type of dress.
- 4). Commit to the style and color that looked flattering on everybody. You want your bridal party to shine along with you.
- 5). Pick a similar dress for the flower girl. She should be wearing the same color as the bridesmaids. It's probably a great idea to add ruffles, lace or other adornments to the child's dress, though.
- 6). Make sure all outfits are tried on one last time before the wedding. You don't want to discover that someone's outfit has shrunk or no longer fits right on the day of your wedding. An ounce of prevention can save a wedding of worry.
