 Sleep is the regular period in every 24 hours when we are unconscious and unaware of our surroundings. We do not usually need to think very much about our sleep. It’s just a part of life that we take for granted.

Few people realize how important sleep is. We had no idea why we sleep. It is not general knowledge, and it really should be, because sufficient quality sleep is essential for vigorous health. Some refer to sleep as “recharging our batteries”.

In relation to sleep the teachings of Islam does emphasize that sleeping is a part of Allah’s blessings. Such are the teachings of Islam, which are complete concerning all questions in relation to life.

It’s easy to worry when we can’t sleep. The occasional night without sleep will make us feel tired the next day, but it won’t harm our physical or mental health. However after several sleepless nights, we will start to find that we are tired all the time and feel depressed. Lack of sleep may also make us more vulnerable to high blood pressure, obesity and Diabetes.

To understand how important sleep is to our physical and mental health, we need to understand what happens during sleep. We have two types of energy in our body. When we mention the word energy, the energy most people think of is caloric energy, which we get from the fuel we consume (our food).

The second type of energy doesn’t get a lot of press. It’s not taught in school, or even to most healing practitioners, but its role in healing is PARAMOUND.it’s referred to as “nerve energy”. It’s made up of ions and is electrical in nature. Much harder to quantify than caloric energy, but just as important, nerve energy is used in every function of the body. It powers the brain. It inhabits every one of our ten trillion cells.it, s responsible for growth, thought, and healing. We refill caloric energy by eating and nerve energy by sleeping.

Sleep is not just a form of rest. Sleep plays a critical physiological function, and is essential for our intellectual development. Those who do not respect their sleep are not likely to live to their full mental protential.By cutting down our sleep we learn less, we develop less, we are less bright, we make worse decisions, we accomplish less, we are less productive, we are more prone to errors, and we undermine our true intellectual potential.

Sleep is a vital necessity just as air is. Can we hold our breath for as long as we want? Even when we know and remind our self, that if we fall asleep while driving on the highway, we will crash and very likely die, we will eventually fall asleep at the wheel if our body doesn’t have enough nerve energy to keep us awake .what do some people do when they find themselves nodding off during the day? Instead of going to sleep earlier, they take stimulants to off sleep, the worst thing we can do to our body’s healing system and taking sleep aids should be a last option.

How many hours of sleep is required a day? Actually there is no fixed time however many medical personal recommend sleeping for at least eight hours a day. The number of sleeping hours we acquire for the purpose of resting depends upon age, employment and the individual’s state or condition. This is because the number of hours a child takes is a lot in comparison to those who perform physical work.

Here are some tips to help you get a night, s sleep. your bedroom should be comfortable and 100 percent dark, do not eat within 2-3 hours of going to sleep, do not take problems to bed with you(don’t worry; the problems will still be there tomorrow),prepare your brain  for sleep and get some exercise. Don’t overdo it. If you can’t sleep, get up and do something you find relaxing.
