Hi everyone. I'm Andrea Eldridge from Nerds on Call and CallNerds.com for eHow.com, and today I'm going to be showing you how to transfer your data from an old computer to a new one. Windows Easy Transfer comes installed with Windows Seven. Look for it under All Programs, Accessories and System Tools. It will transfer all of your files, user accounts and settings from one computer to another. There are several transfer method options. If both your new and your old computer are connected to the network and can share files, try the network transfer option. Otherwise, consider purchasing an easy transfer cable to connect your two computers via USB. Windows Easy Transfer will scan your old PC for files and then ask you to select which ones you want to migrate over. If you don't have Windows 7, or if you want to make a duplicate copy of your data for safekeeping, I'd recommend an external hard drive. Western Digital and Seagate both offer versions with free software that'll make a complete backup of your drive. Once your data is on the external drive, connect it to your new computer and transfer the files you need. Last, but not least, you can use an online service to backup your old PC and transfer those files to your new one. Crash Plan offers a free service you can use to transfer data from one computer to another. For more information on how to transfer your data from an old computer to a new one, check out the links on this page. I'm Andrea Eldridge for Nerds on Call and CallNerds.com for eHow.com. Thanks for watching.
