How to Use Dialup for XBox Live
- 1). Connect your PC and xBox. Use the Ethernet cable to connect your xBox to the PC. Turn on both machines.
- 2). Connect to the Internet. From your PC, connect to the Internet using your dial-up connection.
- 3). Change your network settings. From the Start menu in Windows, go the Control Panel. Once there, click on Network and Sharing Center. Click "Set up a New connection" to start the Network Setup Wizard. Select "This computer connects directly to the Internet." Next, select your dial-up connection as the way you connect to the Internet. Select "Local Area Connection" as your private connection. Apply the settings and reboot your computer if necessary.
- 4). Configure the network settings on your xBox. From the System menu, select "Network Settings." Next, choose "Run xBox Live Test," and wait for the test to run. If it is successful, you will get an OK message. If it is not successful make sure that your xBox is connected securely to the PC via the Ethernet cable and that the PC is connected to the Internet.
- 5). Download updates and log into xBox Live. You may be prompted to download updates for your system. This will probably take a long time via dial-up so find something else to do while they download. Your system will restart when it is done. Next, from the main xBox menu, you can choose to log-in with an existing xBox Live profile or create a new one. Once you've logged in, you can access xBox Live content.
