WOW Priest Leveling Guide

103 2
As the main healing character in the game, Priests are generally known as players who can keep others alive.
They share similar traits to what their name suggest.
The best healing spells with in World of Warcraft can be found in a Priest's arsenal.
You will not find a better pure healing class then the Priests.
Along with these strong heals, Priests have the ability to raise the dead.
If one of their party members dies, they will be able to quickly raise them from the dead after the fight is over.
As a healer you are asked to restore health and sometimes even restore life to players.
Along with their holy aspects, the Priest also have a dark side to them that provide a whole new outlook on the name Priest.
Priests can also become a DPS class that can unleash demonstrative damage to enemies.
The strength of a Priest's attacks comes from their area of effect spells (AoE) that cover large areas, destroying multiple targets at once.
Many times reviews will tell you that as a Priest you should be a healer, and then not say anything else.
I would be doing you a disservice if I didn't warn you of the difficulties of healing.
As a person who has player WOW for a great deal of time, I have found that the really good healers are the ones who like to do it.
If you don't want to be a healer, don't be one...
it's that simple.
Your character's skills are important, but as important as your knowledge and awareness as a healer.
These are two things that you must always have as a healer especially in a raid or battleground.
You are the single most important aspect of any group, if you fail, everyone fails.
If you don't have the desire to do it, then you are more likely to make a mistake.
If I haven't scared you away from being a healer then you will want to be a Priest so you can have the best possible healing spells you can.
Whether you are needed to heal just one person or a huge party of players, you have the ability to do both.
You can distribute healing spells that heal over a long period of time, or you can simple heal someone with one giant big heal.
Each of these heals are unique, and allow the Priest to distribute his heals based off of the circumstances as well as the mana that he possesses.
Many times in raids and PvP battles, you will be dealing with two or more enemies that your group can not handle.
You will want to utilize your fear and charm spells.
You may choose certain enemies and place them under a spell that will force them to leave a fight for a predetermined time.
You will want to learn these spells as soon as possible, especially if you want to battle with other players.
The ability to fear them out of a fight can make the difference between victory and defeat.
It seems that when designing the Priests Blizzard put all of their eggs in one basket.
They have tremendous healing abilities, as discussed above, but when it comes to combat...
you will want to be very careful.
Cloth armor is the best a Priest can wear, so do not expect to have a great deal of protection against enemies.
To top it off, they also have a very limited amount of health (compared to the other characters) which makes them even weaker.
If you want to survive you must surround yourself with people who can protect you and keep the enemies off of you.
Never expect to lend a hand when it comes to melee combat.
It isn't worth even trying.
Your hit points as a Priest are so low; you won't even want to attempt a melee attack.
What makes the Priest so strenuous to play is all of these aspects as well as the added difficulty of having an entire parties lives in your hands.
As a Priest you have really two different areas you could focus on, healing and DPS|As discussed before, you have two specs to choose from: Healing and DPS.
Depending on which spec you choose to build, you can somewhat personalize the talents you want, but not too much.
The easy choice is when you want to be a healer; you will want to use the talents in the Holy talent build.
The best DPS talent tree is most definitely Shadow, allowing you to do area effect spells, bring down multiple targets at once.
The third and final tree is Discipline, this has a great deal of fun and interesting talents.
Discipline is a good talent spec, and will do a good deal of damage, but no matter how you run the numbers, Shadow always does more.
I believe that Discipline is a much better tree to use your excess talents in and focus your energy on one of the other two talents.
Shadow has to be your choice while you level your Priest, it will benefit you greatly.
With your limited amount of armor as a Priest you will want to destroy your enemies quickly as possible, especially if you are solo leveling.
Don't forget that those healing abilities can apply to you as well, as long as you survive a fight you will be fine.
Faster you kill them the more likely you will survive and Shadow is the best DPS talent tree.
As a premier healing class, Priests are a obvious choose if you are intending to become a healer.
Don't be pressured into being a healer unless you want to be one.
I must say again that you should only choose to be a Priest healer (or any healer in that case) if you have a great desire to do so.
If you decide that you want to dabble in the ranged DPS area of a Priest, make sure you do not engage in a melee battle.
Allow those who are designed for close quarter combat to do so.
Don't get ahead of yourself as a Priest, allow others to establish the fight and then add your contributions; don't be a hero.
Using both of your specs you can bring a great deal to any raiding party or PvP group.
