How do I Clean Old Urine Stains From Carpet?
- 1). Vacuum the stained carpet with a wet vacuum, following the vacuum manufacturer's directions. Wet vacuums force out liquids, such as urine, and heavy stains from carpet.
- 2). Sprinkle enzyme odor-neutralizing powder over the affected carpet. Use an enzyme powder that specifically treats old pet odors. Enzyme products penetrate deeper into carpets than household cleaners and perfumed sprays.
- 3). Allow the powder to remain on the carpet for the amount of time recommended by the manufacturer. Vacuum the carpet with a regular vacuum.
- 4). Spray carpet stain remover over the affected carpet if the stain still remains. Blot the carpet with an absorbent cloth until the stain is removed.
- 5). Dampen a soft cloth with water. Blot the carpet with the dampened cloth to rinse out the stain remover.
