How to Make Wall Decorations for Parties
- 1). Look for a form or picture to use for the wall decoration. Use line drawings or coloring book pages of the items to use for a pattern. For instance, if the party is for a high school graduation, select line drawings of a mortar board, diploma and the numbers depicting the graduation year. Cut out the shapes to use for the pattern.
- 2). Transfer the shapes onto colored paper, card stock or foam board. Use foam board for the main item shape to add more dimension to the decoration. For example, when decorating for a baby shower, make a large stork body from white foam board.
- 3). Cut out the small pieces for the decoration from colored paper. Adhere the pieces to the main piece. Continuing with the stork example, cut out the bill, eyes, baby bundle and feet of the stork from card stock or decorative paper.
- 4). Adhere the smaller pieces to the main piece of the decoration.
- 5). Create a three-dimensional wall decoration by adhering buttons, ribbon, silk flowers, buckles and other embellishments to the piece as shown at Altered-book.com.
- 6). Paint additional designs or highlights on the decoration with acrylic paint.
