Ancient Civilization Games
- While many video games focus on modern life or futuristic environments, others take a look at ancient civilizations and how they were created. Ancient civilization video games give history buffs and gaming enthusiasts a chance to relive past events with new elements thrown in. Ancient civilization games are available for both console and computer gamers.
- Big Fish Games released the ancient civilization game "Cradle of Rome" only for PC players. "Cradle of Rome" was created by Awem Studio and is rated suitable for players of all ages. As its title implies, "Cradle of Rome" centers solely on ancient Rome. The game challenges players to pursue the title of Emperor while making the ancient civilization of Rome a better place to live for its inhabitants. As players progress, their ratings go up.
- Midway made and published the ancient civilization game "Rise and Fall: Civilizations at War" just for PC gamers in June 2006. Designed as a strategy game, "Civilizations at War" is rated acceptable for those 13 and over. Players get to see multiple ancient civilizations in action, as the game features ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt and Persia. Some of the characters featured in "Rise and Fall" are actual historical figures, while others are purely fictional.
- Microsoft Game Studios published the ancient civilization title "Rise of Nations" only for PC users in May 2003. The game was made by Big Huge Games and rated appropriate for all those 13 and up. "Rise of Nations" challenges players to operate in different time periods, some ancient and some more recent. You must build up a civilization by recruiting new soldiers and gaining new resources from other regions.
- 2K Games released the ancient civilization game "Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution" for PlayStation 3, Nintendo Wii, Nintendo DS and Xbox 360 in July 2008. Created by Firaxis Games, "Civilization Revolution" is rated suitable for players 10 and above. Players are able to pick between over a dozen ancient civilizations that each have different attribute ratings in four categories. The goal is to build a civilization that becomes as powerful as possible, even if that was not the historical outcome.
