How to Make a Pentagram With Salt

104 2
    • 1). Locate a spot on the floor where you would like to draw your pentagram.

    • 2). Measure and cut off about 2 feet of string. The length of string equals the radius of the circle you will draw. If you want a bigger circle, cut a longer length of string.

    • 3). Press a thumbtack into the floor where the center of your circle will be. If you don't want to use a thumbtack, you can use a heavy weight or something that can hold a string in place.

    • 4). Tie one end of the string to the thumbtack.

    • 5). Tie the other end of the string to a salt shaker.

    • 6). Tug on the salt shaker so that it pulls the string into a straight line.

    • 7). Turn the salt shaker upside down so that salt pours out of it and rotate the salt shaker around the thumbtack while pulling on it to keep the string straight. This will create a salt circle on the ground, with a radius equal to the length of the string.

    • 8). Select a point on the circle. This point can be arbitrarily chosen and will mark the top of the pentagram.

    • 9). Place the protractor on the outside of the circle, touching the point chosen in the previous step. Angle the protractor so that the line marked 90 points towards the center of the circle.

Look at the protractor and find the line marked 72. If the lines are only marked in increments of ten, estimate a line two-tenths of the way between the lines marked 70 and 80. Draw a line across the circle in salt following this angle, stopping when you reach the edge of the circle.

    • 11

Repeat the previous step but draw a line for the angle 108. The circle now has two lines that cross it.

Choose either line you just drew and move the protractor to the intersection point between that line and the circle. Place the protractor outside the circle, touching the intersection point, with the line marked 90 pointing to the center of the circle. Depending on the line you chose, there will be a salt line at either 72 degrees or 108 degrees. Fill in the missing line using the technique from steps 5 and 6.

    • 13

Repeat the previous step for the line you just drew in salt. The pentagram now has four lines.

    • 14

Repeat Step 7 for the line drawn in Step 6.
